Semiconductor Equipment Innovation Since 1987

Cost Effective Equipment traces its heritage back to 1987, when the Cee® semiconductor processing equipment product line was established within Brewer Science. Dr. Terry Brewer recognized a need in the semiconductor and materials development community for high-performance laboratory-scale wafer processing tools, and the Cee® line was created to meet that demand.

For thirty years, the Cee® product line developed a strong reputation for precision, reliability, and performance, with thousands of tools in use worldwide for research, testing, and small-volume semiconductor manufacturing.

In 2017, Brewer Science made a strategic decision to focus on its core materials and process technologies and divested its semiconductor equipment business unit. During that transition, industry veteran Russ Pagel, a founding member and long-time director of the equipment division, established Cost Effective Equipment, LLC to continue the Cee® equipment business as an independent company. The new organization retained the existing product line, honored warranties, and maintained global customer support. In 2022, Cee® relocated company headquarters to St. James, Missouri.

Today, Cost Effective Equipment builds on its decades of semiconductor equipment expertise by delivering exceptional customer support and tailored solutions. The company continues to expand its Apogee® product line and works closely with customers to develop custom systems that meet unique research and production needs. With roots tracing back to 1987 as part of Brewer Science and independent operations since 2017, Cee® combines proven engineering heritage with a commitment to innovation and partnership.
